Ask anyone who’s spent time with him and they’ll tell you, “Captain Ed O’Donnell loves
running his boat.”
He hails
from the “Windy City”, where he began his romance with the water on the Great Lakes, the Mississippi River and
other inland lakes and streams.
As life’s journey led him down several avenues, he’s
never really been far from some body of water. He’s salmon fished on the Great Lakes, angled for Walleye and Northern
Pike in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, tuna fished in the Atlantic and game fished off Oahu.
In 1981, Ed and his family moved from the midwest to Long Island and he added the Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound,
the Hudson River, the New York State Canal System as well as numerous rivers in the area and the North Atlantic out to
the Hudson Canyon to his list of navigated territory.
Somewhere
in that period, the fishing poles gave way to cruising guides and voyages and destinations became the focus of boating.
His vision in establishing Eaton’s Island Corporation was to share the world he loves while offering a sample
of a recreational activity that for whatever reason isn’t readily available to everyone.
Looking to the future, Capt. Ed’s investigating the possibility of cruising “The Great Loop”,
an increasingly popular activity that entails the circumnavigation of the eastern half of the United States in one "great
loop". With a start in NY, destinations include Montreal, Ottawa, Chicago, Mobile, Pensacola, the
Florida Keys and Cape Hattaras.
